Terms of Use
The rules for using Oma, in plain words. Please read them before you create an account.
Last updated 9 October 2026 · Version 2026-09-30.5
The short version.
- Oma connects clients with independent nail technicians in Nigeria. The client pays Oma first. The nail tech is paid when they scan the client's code after the appointment.
- Oma tracks location. If you are a nail tech without a shop, Oma follows where you are during your working hours, even when your phone is locked, and clients can see it. It stops when your working day ends. Oma also records bookings, payments, scans, messages and safety reports. See Location and tracking.
- Be honest, do the work you were paid for, and treat people well.
1. Who we are, and what Oma is
Oma is run by OMA NAILS LTD, a company registered in Nigeria with the Corporate Affairs Commission (RC 9859994). In these terms, "Oma", "we" and "us" mean OMA NAILS LTD. You can reach us at hello@omanails.com.
Oma is a marketplace. It helps clients find and book independent nail technicians and it handles the payment. Nail technicians are not Oma's employees or agents. The nail service itself is between the client and the nail tech. Oma does not do anyone's nails.
2. Who can use Oma
- You must be 16 or older.
- You must give true information and keep it up to date. One person, one account.
- If you are a nail tech, you are responsible for any licence, permit or tax that your work needs in Nigeria.
3. Your account
You sign in with your email and a password. When you create an account we send a six-digit code to your email to confirm it. Keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens under your account. If you think someone else is using it, tell us straight away at hello@omanails.com.
4. The identity check
A nail tech must pass a one-time identity check before they can be listed. A client is asked for the same check before a nail tech travels to their home. You give a virtual NIN (vNIN). A NIMC-licensed provider checks it, and Oma compares the name on it with the name on your Oma account.
Oma does not store your vNIN or your NIN. We keep the result, the provider's reference, whether the name matched, and a scrambled code that stops someone removed from Oma from coming back under a new email. The Privacy page has the details.
5. Your listing and photos (nail techs)
- Keep your services, prices and hours accurate. The price you list is the price the client pays.
- Upload only photos of your own work. You confirm you have the right to use them and that they are not misleading.
- You keep ownership of your photos. You allow Oma to show them in the app and on omanails.com while your listing is live.
- Oma may hide a photo or a listing that breaks these terms or is reported.
- You are independent. You set your own prices and hours and you use your own tools.
6. Bookings and payments
- A client books a service and pays through Oma. Payments are processed by Paystack. Oma does not keep card numbers.
- The time slot is held for 30 minutes while the client pays. If the money does not arrive, the hold expires.
- Once paid, the booking shows in the nail tech's Requests and Diary.
- The nail tech does the service. At the end, they scan the client's QR code, or types the client's six digits. That releases the payment to their Oma wallet.
- Scan only when the service is finished. If a paid booking is never scanned, the price of the appointment is refunded to the client (not the booking fee) 12 hours after the time the appointment was due to start. Nail techs should therefore scan on the day.
- The nail tech can withdraw released money to their own Nigerian bank account, 24 hours after the scan, once the client's card payment has reached Oma. Oma checks the account name with the bank first. Money that has not been released, or was released less than 24 hours ago, cannot be withdrawn yet. The app shows what is ready and when the rest unlocks.
- Oma sends withdrawals and refunds from its bank account, automatically or by hand. If an automatic payment fails or looks wrong, Oma holds it, looks at it and sends it by hand, or returns a withdrawal to the nail tech's wallet.
Fees
Oma charges the nail tech ₦250 for each completed service, plus 2% of the part of the price above ₦30,000. It is taken when the payment is released. Paystack's card fee is paid by the nail tech too, and every job shows what the client paid, Oma's fee, the card fee and what the nail tech keeps. Oma takes no fee from the nail tech for a booking that is cancelled, expires or is refunded. When a nail tech withdraws, the bank-transfer fee is taken from the withdrawal, and the app shows “you get” before it is sent. At the moment it is ₦15 for a withdrawal up to ₦10,000, ₦12 up to ₦100,000, ₦10 up to ₦400,000 and ₦9 above that, and nothing for an account at Kuda. Oma pays the transfer fee on a refund to a client. If we change our fees, the app will tell you before the change starts. A change does not affect a booking that is already paid.
Booking fee (clients)
A client pays a booking fee of ₦75 on top of the price of the appointment, once for each booking. The app shows it as its own line, “Booking fee”, before the client pays. It belongs to Oma. It is not part of the nail tech's price, it is not held with the appointment payment, and the nail tech never receives it. The booking fee is not refundable. If a booking is refunded, the client gets back the price of the appointment, not the booking fee.
Cancellations and refunds
If you cannot keep an appointment, tell the other person in Messages as soon as you can. A client's payment is released to the nail tech only when the nail tech scans the client's code at the end of the service. A client cannot cancel an appointment she has paid for; she can drop a booking she has not yet paid for. A nail tech who cannot make a paid appointment tells Oma in the app (I can't make this appointment) and the client is refunded the price of the appointment at once. If a booking is cancelled or the service does not happen, the price of the appointment is refunded to the client, to the refund account she saved in the app. The ₦75 booking fee is not refunded. If you and the other person do not agree, Oma will look at what happened and decide. If there is a problem with a booking, use Report a problem in the app and Oma will look at it.
When a client does not come
If the client has not come 30 minutes after the time the appointment was due to start, the nail tech can tap Client didn't come in the app. Oma believes the tap only if the nail tech's phone was at the place of the appointment when she tapped. If the client's own phone was at the place while her app was open, or there is evidence on both sides, or the nail tech's phone was not at the place, Oma looks at what happened and decides.
When it is decided that the client did not come, the nail tech is paid the whole price of the appointment and the client is not refunded the price, because the nail tech kept the time free and could not finish the service on time. Oma closes any report the client made on that appointment that the nail tech did not come, or about some “other” problem, and does not accept a new one. A report about safety, harassment or theft is never closed this way. The ₦75 booking fee stays with Oma. If instead the client was at the place and the nail tech was not, the price is refunded to the client. Oma can always look at a case itself and decide differently.
Home visits
A nail tech who travels to clients can set a call-out fee and a fare per kilometre. The client sees the amount before they pay.
Inspo pictures
When a client books, they can add up to 3 inspiration pictures to show the nail tech the style they want. They are optional. Add only pictures you have the right to share, and nothing indecent, hateful or illegal. In Oma, only the nail tech you booked can see them. The nail tech can report a picture, and Oma may remove it. Oma deletes inspo pictures 30 days after the appointment, and when you delete your account.
7. Location and tracking
You will be tracked in the ways described here. Please read this part.
- Nail techs with a shop. Pin my location saves the position of your shop so clients can find you.
- Nail techs without a shop. If you choose I don't have a shop, tracking is always on during your working hours. You do not switch it on or off. Oma records your position about once a minute during your working hours, including when your phone is locked or Oma is in the background, and shows it to clients looking for a nail tech near them. It stops when your working day ends and on the days you do not work. Oma keeps only where you are right now, not a trail of where you have been. To let it work when your phone is locked, choose Always for Oma under Location in your phone's Settings. Between working hours your phone may wake Oma when you travel a long way, so that tracking can start on time; your position is not recorded or sent then.
- Working hours. Every nail tech sets the days and hours they work. Clients can only book inside them.
- Clients. Oma asks for your location when you ask to see nail techs near you, and while the screen of a paid appointment of yours is open, as described under Check-in below. Only while the app is open.
- Check-in near an appointment (clients and nail techs). While the screen of a paid appointment is open, from 3 hours before it to 12 hours after it was due to start, your phone tells Oma how far you are from the place of the appointment. Oma keeps only that distance and the time, not your coordinates. It is used only to decide a case where someone says the other did not come, and it is deleted 30 days after the appointment. Oma does not follow you on the way and does not check in when the app is closed.
- Records. Oma keeps a record, with times, of bookings, payments, scans, messages and reports, so that disputes can be settled and people kept safe.
- How long. Oma keeps location positions and records only for as long as it needs them to run Oma, settle disputes, keep people safe and meet the law.
You can refuse or turn off location in your phone's Settings. The map and live features then will not work. Oma uses location to run the service. We do not sell it. It is seen by the people described above, and by the authorities if the law requires it.
8. Messages
A conversation exists only inside a paid booking, between the client and the nail tech. Keep it about the appointment. When the booking ends, the conversation disappears from the app for both people. Oma keeps a copy so it can look into problems and settle disputes, and it may read the conversation if there is a report or if the law requires it.
9. Safety, reports and removal
You can report a problem from any booking, and a nail tech can report an inspo picture. Oma may look into it, read the messages, ask for more information, pause a payout, refund the client, hide a listing, or suspend or remove an account. If we remove someone for harming another person, they cannot come back under a new email. Oma does not publish the names of people it has removed.
10. What you must not do
- Give false information, or use someone else's identity.
- Scan a code before the service is finished, or pressure someone to hand over a code early.
- Make fake bookings, or move money around to game fees or points.
- Harass, threaten or discriminate against anyone, or send inappropriate content.
- Add an inspo picture that is indecent, hateful or illegal, or that you have no right to share.
- Offer or ask for anything illegal.
- Copy, scrape, break into or interfere with Oma.
- Use a client's details for anything other than the appointment.
11. Stopping, suspension and deleting your account
You can stop using Oma at any time. To delete your account, go to Settings, then Delete my account in the app. Oma will not delete an account while money is in the middle: a paid appointment that is not finished, an open dispute, or a balance in your wallet. It tells you what to finish first. Past appointments stay as financial records with your name removed. Inspo pictures you added are deleted.
Oma may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts someone at risk, or is used for fraud. We will tell you why unless that would put someone at risk or the law says we cannot. Money owed to a nail tech for finished work is still paid out, unless it is part of an open dispute.
12. Limits on our responsibility
Oma is provided "as is". We work to keep it running, but we cannot promise it will never be interrupted or free of mistakes. Nail services are provided by independent nail technicians. Oma is not responsible for the quality of a service, for injury, damage or loss during it, or for what a nail tech or a client does, except where the law says we are. Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law does not allow us to limit. Subject to that, we are not responsible for indirect or knock-on losses, such as lost earnings or lost bookings.
13. Apple
If you use the iPhone app, these terms are between you and Oma. Apple is not a party to them and has no duty to give support for the app.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms. If a change matters, the app will show you the new terms and ask you to accept them again before you carry on. The date and version at the top say which terms are current.
15. Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of the Federal Republic of Nigeria. Please write to hello@omanails.com first and give us 30 days to put things right. If that does not settle it, the courts of Nigeria can hear the case.
